Getting the Layout Right Before We Drill
Placement is the part that makes or costs this job. We decide where each fixture sits and measure twice. We also make sure no light lands where a drawer pull or an open cabinet door will block it. The light has to fall on the counter, not get buried inside the cabinet when a door swings. We also plan how the cable runs from the supply point to each fixture, because a short, clean run costs less than a long one that means opening more wall.
What the Build Looks Like
We mount each fixture behind the cabinet's front edge and secure it with its mounting screws. A drill/driver with a 1/2-inch spade bit opens the path for the cable, and the cable enters each fixture through a cable connector so the sheath is gripped and the conductors are protected. We connect hot to hot, neutral to neutral and ground to ground, and each joint is secured with a wire connector. Where a recessed light needs a new opening in a ceiling or wall, the drywall saw cuts it. Nothing is left exposed inside the cabinet, and nothing rattles when the door closes.

What It Costs
A small-kitchen recessed lighting project with four to six lights typically runs $700 to $1,400. The number moves with how many lights you want, how far the cable has to travel from the supply point, and how much wall or ceiling has to be opened to get there.
When This Work Makes Sense
If the counter where you prep food sits in shadow, or the only usable light at the range is behind you when you stand there, this is the fix. The same goes for a kitchen that needs the overhead on at noon. If you are not sure whether the problem is placement or the lights themselves, describe how you use the room when you call and we will tell you what we would do.

Our Process
Piece by piece, here's the sequence:
- Install a dimmer compatible with the LED fixtures, connect it to the lighting circuit, and secure it in the electrical box.
